CJIB never sends fines or reminders by email!

Did you receive an email from the Centraal Justitieel Incassobureau stating that you must pay a fine or another outstanding amount? And that unpleasant things will happen if you don’t pay quickly? Like freezing your bank account or getting a visit from a bailiff?

Don’t worry. You received a fake email sent by swindlers. The CJIB never sends fines or reminders by email!

How to act when you received a fake email

  • Don’t pay.
  • Don’t click any links in the email and don’t open any attachments.
  • Do you have antivirus software or a firewall installed on your computer? Check whether the latest updates have been installed.

Where to report a fake email

Don’t contact the CJIB, but forward the email to valse-email@fraudehelpdesk.nl

Did you pay the fake fine to the swindlers?

Report the fraud to the police.

Sometimes people don’t pay the swindlers but transfer the amount mentioned in the fake email to the CJIB instead. When we receive a payment that is not meant for us, we will repay it.

What do we do?

The CJIB reports every new email variant to the police.

Isn’t it possible I do have to pay a fine?

Do you want to make sure there really isn’t an amount you have to pay us? On the page “Ik wil weten wat ik moet betalen” you can find out how to obtain that information quickly.

The information on that page is available in Dutch only. Do you not fully understand the information presented on that page? Please don’t hesitate to contact us. We will be happy to check whether there are any amounts you have to pay us.
